hotel regeneration voorburg

Located on the station square of Voorburg train station, the hotel with its 1990s architecture and 125 rooms has not survived the COVID pandemic. After years of being empty, the hotel finally got the chance to transform into a modern and sustainable short-stay. In close collaboration with Heyligers architects and Holiday-Inn, Shuying has worked intensively in both the architectural and interior concept design phase and the technical design phase.

The ground floor in particular has been transformed: from a dark & introverted space to a transparent, inviting and contemporary lobby. For doing so, the new façade of the entrance hall allowing more light fall, and the reception desk is moved to a logical place to generate better sight connection and logical routing. New furniture, floor, ceiling and wall finishes with light colors and materials allow daylight to penetrate to the heart of the building.

The central atrium where two glass lifts became eye-catcher for the guest and at the same time give orientation of the whole building. To efficiently provide access to the hotel floors, new lighting and new colors give the corridor space around the atrium a fresh identity.
