Hello there, my name is Shuying and I’m the architect and interior designer behind Sylda Studio. After spending over a decade working with prestigious firms in Germany and in the Netherlands, I’ve decided to wholeheartedly pursue my passion and embark on this exciting new journey.
With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sichuan, China, and a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Hanover, Germany, I have brought numerous projects to life in the fields of architecture and interior design within designer and engineer teams. The combination of fine arts and architecture informs my creative design thinking and problem-solving, as evidenced by the design excellence achieved in my work.

When it comes to my approach, I begin each project with one or sometimes two initial discussions. From there, I delve into site visits and thorough analysis. I firmly believe that the project’s outset sets the groundwork for a strong connection and mutual understanding. I’m proactive in asking a variety of questions to ensure I completely understand my clients’ wishes and goals. Once we’re on track, I guide my clients through four well-defined phases.
Concept Design
During this stage, I’ll provide the initial ideas and solutions based on your desires and queries. These will be translated into initial layout plans, mood boards, sketches, and visual references. The goal here is to establish a solid understanding and create a firm functional and aesthetic groundwork for the design.
Preliminary Design
Once you’re satisfied with the concept, I’ll transition into a more detailed design phase. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the spaces through 2D and 3D visuals. I’ll refine the moods and layouts, and provide more precise elaboration. Additionally, I’ll present suggestions for materials, furniture, and fittings.
Final Design
During this phase, the preliminary design is further solidified and refined. I will also create a comprehensive drawing set that will be shared with both you and the builder. This step is essential to ensure effective communication and feasibility during the technical phase of construction. The drawing set will encompass all vital specifications, including ceiling plans, lighting, electricity plans, and materials.
Aesthetic Guidance
To guarantee a smooth process and a well-prepared construction phase, I’ll be there to help source suppliers, coordinate with contractors, and give the green light to final materials and technical design specifics. While the design is solid, it’s important to stay adaptable due to the differing practices of various contractors. If changes arise, I’ll work alongside you to find the right solutions. I’m also more than willing to visit the construction site and collaborate closely with the contractor, offering aesthetic guidance throughout. This phase is particularly thrilling as we witness the design taking shape!
